Second-graders donate pet supplies
Before the dog days of summer began, second-graders from Fairley Elementary had an opportunity to experience dog days of their own during a year-end visit from Paws Across Oswego County.
PAOC members Marjorie Wentworth and Connie Evans, along with dogs Harper and Charlotte, entertained Hannibal second-graders with story time featuring some famous local foster pups. In addition to hearing stories, students also learned about the nonprofit organization and its mission to find “furever” homes and help care for cats and dogs in the area.
Students also helped the PAOC in its mission by providing a donation of blankets, food, treats and toys. The effort was a grade-level initiative that encouraged students to “fight for a cause,” teacher Lisa Bailey noted.
“The students really embraced the idea of giving back and supporting a cause,” she said.
